Iraqi Shiite Muslim leader condemns cathedral massacre

An aide to Iraq's leading Shiite Muslim cleric has condemned the massacre at Baghdad's Syrian Catholic cathedral.  "Targeting churches and attempted murders are unacceptable and should be condemned because everyone in Iraq should enjoy the necessary protection to live," said Sheikh Ahmed al-Safi, a representative of Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, during prayers on Friday, the Muslim day of worship. "Security forces must think seriously about developing new means of protection other than the traditional ways that are not up to the challenges."
