An Anglican ordinariate for the United States will be formally established by the Holy See on January 1. Former Episcopalian Bishop Jeffrey Steenson, who led the Anglican dioese of El Paso, Texas, until he left the Anglican communion in 2007, will reportedly be named the ordinary to lead the new American group.
In Canada, meanwhile, another Anglican prelate, Bishop Robert Mercer, will be received into the Catholic Church on January 7.
