Put victims first, Pope says in message to abuse seminar

In a message to a seminar on sexual abuse, being held this week at the Gregorian University, Pope Benedict XVI has urged placing the primary focus on the victims of abuse.The papal message said that "healing for victims must be of paramount concern in the Christian community, and it must go hand in hand with a profound renewal of the Church at every level." The Pope voiced his hope that the seminar would help the Church "to respond in a truly Christ-like manner to the tragedy of child abuse."
