WOMEN: St. Hildegard of Bingen

St. Hildegard of Bingen is depicted in a window at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn. Pope Benedict XVI has signed a decree formalizing her Sept. 17 feast and adding her name to the church's catalogue of saints. The German Benedictine mystic, although venerated for centuries, had never been officially canonized. (CNS/Crosiers)
