Writing for First Things, Joe Carter observes that "biologically impossible ratios" of baby boys to girls exist in dozens of nations because of sex-selective abortions and girls' higher death rates. "This threat to baby girls, however, is not just a phenomenon found abroad," he notes. "In the United States sex ratios at birth for the Chinese-American population, the Japanese-American population, and the Filipino-American population, and for the Asian-American population as a whole are out of kilter."
