Prelate not recognized by Pope elected leader of Chinese bishops December 09, 2010
Forced by Communist authorities to gather in Beijing, China's state-recognized bishops-- some in communion with the Holy See, and others not-- elected Bishop Ma Yinglin, a prelate not recognized by Rome, as president of their bishops' council. AsiaNews reported that "ecclesial decisions are made on the basis of rigged elections" and that prior to the meeting, "all participants [received] clear indications of what to do and what to vote."
