South Sudan: religious brothers minister as village becomes leper colonyOctober 06, 2011
A village on the outskirts of South Sudan's capital has become a colony for 350 lepers. There the Brothers of St. Martin de Porres--a local religious institute--minister to them.
"It is a real stigma," one of the brothers told the Fides news agency. "People believe they can contract leprosy by simply waving to a patient, when in fact it is impossible. People are afraid even to approach a patient who was sick but now has healed."
