Holy See approves ordinariate jurisdiction in Canada

The Holy See has approved the establishment of a Canadian deanery of the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter, the ecclesial structure established by Pope Benedict on January 1 for Anglican communities in United States that seek to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church.Father Lee Kenyon will lead the deanery under the authority of Msgr. Jeffrey Steenson, the Ordinary.
"I am delighted that the Holy See has approved the establishment of a Canadian deanery of the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter," said Cardinal Thomas Collins of Toronto. "Father Kenyon will provide excellent pastoral leadership for the new deanery, and I offer my prayers for all involved in this important initiative."
The Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter is one of three ordinariates; the others are Our Lady of Walsingham (UK) and Our Lady of the Southern Cross (Australia).
